Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.” 1 Samuel 7:3 NKJV
Ashtoreth: The name of a Phoenician goddess of love, war and fertility. Her name is cognate to that of the Babylonian goddess ISHTAR.
Philistine: A smug and ignorant person who is regarded as being indifferent or antagonistic to God; One who lacks faith or knowledge of God
Devotional Prayer
Merciful Father, I come before Your presence with an open and sincere heart to say thank You for saving me from the foreign gods and false idols of this world. Give me a pure heart and help me to stay away from a Phlistine sprit anything or anyone that seeks to take Your place in my heart. I place my life in Your hands and trust You to deliver me from the Ashororeths and Philistines, my fears, and all of my sufferings. In the blessed name of Jesus, I pray.
March through books of the Bible and meditate on the verse and prayer of the day to help strengthen your faith and personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. Loving people with compassionate care and pointing them to "The Truth, Christ our Savior," is how you will be a soul winner and bring glory to God.
