As soon as the meal was finished, Jesus insisted that the disciples get in the boat and go on ahead across to Bethsaida while He dismissed the crowd. After sending them off, He went up on a mountainside to pray. Late at night, the boat was far out at sea; Jesus was still by Himself on land. He could see His disciples struggling with the oars, the wind having come up against them. At about four o’clock in the morning, Jesus came toward them, walking on the sea. He intended to go right by them. But when they saw Him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and screamed, scared to death. Jesus was quick to comfort them: “Courage! It’s me. Don’t be afraid.” As soon as He climbed into the boat, the wind died down. They were stunned, shaking their heads, wondering what was going on. They didn’t understand about the loaves. None of this had yet penetrated their hearts. Mark 6:45-52
Living Truth
I praise You, Lord Jesus, for interceding on my behalf and bringing me comfort when my heart is in pain during times of trouble. Just as You saw the disciples struggling in the boat on the water, I believe in my heart that you see my struggles and come to still the storms of doubt. Please fill my heart today with courage so I can learn to overcome my fears when facing winds of opposition. Holy Spirit, please engrave Christ's promise in my heart; For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” I ask in His mighty name.
Living Truth
- "You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in Your bottle. You have recorded each one in Your book." Psalm 56:8
- "Now there have been many other priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office. But because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood. Therefore He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them." Hebrews 13:22-25
