Forward - Philippians 3:13

Today's Bible verse promises a bright future for all those who are in the heavenly race and aspire to win the greatest prize, Jesus Christ.

No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven. Philippians 3:13-14 NLT

Today's Prayer

Living Father, thank You for the year that I leave behind me and I commit 2013 into Your hands. I don't know what lies ahead, however, I am confident that You will take care of me and my family. My desire is to press ahead through Christ who strengthens me so please teach me to focus on things above. Help me to love more and hate less; to be stronger in faith and less doubtful; to know Your peace so I worry less; to trust You more and fear less; to be appreciative with what I have and be less covetous; to laugh more and cry less; to be more encouraging and less of a pessimist; to look forward instead of looking back; to enjoy today and not worry about tomorrow; to stop being critical and praise more; to complain less and rejoice more often; to not sweat the little things so I can focus on whats most important; to reach the end of this life's race and hear You say, "well done, good and faithful servant." In Jesus' name I pray.

My Departing Words

To my loving and patient wife, Michele, my beloved son David, my radiant daughter-in-law Blair, my cherished son Joshua, my compassionate daughter Anna, my steadfast son-in-law, Jeff, my empathetic daughter Christina, my go-getter son-in-law Miles, my bright and persevering granddaughter, Blake, my beautiful and tenderhearted granddaughter, Zoey, my strong and handsome grandson, Wyatt, my tender-hearted and precious granddaughter Talia, my jubilant and adorable granddaughter, Romi, and to all of my caring family and faithful friends. I will consider my life a great success if I have the joy of seeing each of you in God's eternal Kingdom. I ask you to please forgive me if I've wronged any of you and did not ask for your forgiveness. I love you and pray my life has influenced each of you in a small way to believe in Christ Jesus and to accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior. I'm grateful to my Lord and humbled to have experienced an abundant and full life that was only possible by abiding in Him. It's difficult to put into words just how grateful I am for God's salvation. When I was 18 years old and lost all hope, Jesus came to my rescue. I'm so thankful that I've been able to experience the power and presence of the Holy Spirit from the moment I accepted Christ and decided to follow Him. The Holy Spirit has been my Helper, Teacher, Comforter, Counselor, and Guide in teaching me to be like Jesus and relying on Him, until my last breath. I fought the good fight and learned that living for God, serving Jesus, and loving people has eternal rewards and zero regrets. To live for Christ is unimaginable gain and glorifying God is what matters most in life. Apart from Jesus, nothing else made much sense to me in life, and nothing else the world offered was worthy of my life's investment. To die in Christ is not the end, it's the doorway in Eternal Life through the power of His resurrection. I'll see you in a little while and pray to see you in heaven. Hector Perez.
