Prayer to be a disciple of Christ Jesus

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for teaching me the truth about self-sacrifice and how losing my life for You will be difficult and painful. Nonetheless, I choose this day to be Your disciple by denying myself, taking up my cross and following You. Holy Spirit, help me to be altruistic like Jesus. Remind me that the end result of losing my life for Jesus far outweighs everything that will fade away and perish in this world. Lead someone across my path today that is self-centered and looks like they have it all together on the outside but feels miserable and discontent on the inside. Guide me in sharing this wonderful promise so they find life by choosing to follow Jesus. I pray for their salvation in His mighty name. Amen.
