A department of correction
Is provided by our state
To monitor all the citizens,
Who have probation as their fate.

God has His own department
Of correction, as you know,
To keep His children in line
As they struggle here below.

It's called the chastening rod.
God uses it when it is needed,
When His children fall into sin,
And His rules they haven't heeded.

He has angelic messengers,
Who act as parole officers here,
And when Christians go astray,
Chastening will come, I fear.

Just remember, dear Christian,
Whom God loves, He chastens too,
So let's avoid the chastening rod
By obeying what He says to do. 

Praise & Prayer to Value God's Correction

Father of mercies, I feel so loved by You and recall the words Job stated to his friends; "Happy is the person whom God corrects! Do not resent it when He rebukes you." I humble myself before Your presence to thank You for correcting me, guiding me, and never rejecting me for my often blunders. Holy Spirit, please give me a teachable heart that accepts God's prodding and rebukes instead of allowing resentment to set in and making me feel like running away is the best option. Help me this day to run after God and do my best for the honor and glory of Christ Jesus, my wonderful Savior. Amen!
