1 Corinthians 7:18-19 MSG
Eternal Truth: “But I did obey the LORD,” Saul insisted. “I carried out the mission He gave me. I brought back King Agag, but I destroyed everyone else. Then my troops brought in the best of the sheep, goats, cattle, and plunder to sacrifice to the LORD your God in Gilgal.” But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to His voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams." 1 Samuel 15:20-22; “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you." John 14:15-17; "Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:9-10

I acknowledge, Lord God, that obedience to Your commands is the pathway to blessings and a deeper relationship with You and Christ Jesus, my Savior. Lord Jesus, I praise You for perfectly fulfilling all 613 commandments in the Holy Scriptures and allowing me to share in Your obedience. I want to fulfill my calling and demonstrate my love for You by keeping Your commandments. Please teach me Your ways and lead me in the path of righteousness so that I may do those things that please our Father in heaven. Holy Spirit, thank You for being my Helper. Please remind me that the most important aspect of my calling is obedience to God, which is better than sacrifice. Free me from the tendency to lie to myself, as Saul did when he disobeyed God and sought to justify his actions. I pray this in Jesus' mighty name.
