Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a MSG
Praise & Prayer
As I reflect on the virtues of love that Paul describes in this holy scripture, Abba Father, I see Your magnificent character and the greatness of Your everlasting love, perfectly expressed by Christ Jesus, our Savior. Lord Jesus, I praise You for never giving up on me. Thank you for sacrificing Your life and for loving me unlike anyone I have ever known or will ever know. I confess that without You, my human love is inadequate and easily fades away. As we celebrate Your birth this Christmas, I ask You to please fill me with God's love so that I may learn to love others with the virtues of Your unfailing, sacrificial, and boundless love. I make this request in Your mighty name.
