HELPER/SAVIOR: God is your helper who saves you from the sword - Exodus 18:4

Now Jethro, the priest of Midian and father-in-law of Moses [means: rescued from drowning waters], heard of everything God had done for Moses and for his people Israel, and how the Lord had brought Israel out of Egypt. After Moses had sent away his wife Zipporah, his father-in-law Jethro received her and her two sons. One son was named Gershom [means: foreigner] for Moses said, “I have become a foreigner in a foreign land”; and the other was named Eliezer [means: my God is Helper] for he said, “My father’s God was my helper; He saved me from the sword of Pharaoh.” Exodus 18:1-4 NIV

Praise & Prayer
I offer a sacrifice of praise to You, Holy Father, for being my Helper and God of my salvation in this foreign land that I'm passing through. My Jesus, my Savior, I kneel to thank You for saving me from the sword of Pharaoh [symbolic of the devil], who lacerated my hopes and held me captive as a prisoner of sin for many years. Holy Spirit, please grant me the opportunity today to share this wonderful scripture of truth with a person who feels helpless and is being devoured by the devil's sword of lies and deceit. Lord Jesus, please come to their rescue and save them as we pray and call upon Your mighty name. Amen.

BANNER: The LORD is my Banner - Exodus 17:15

Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner. He said, “Because hands were lifted up against the throne of the Lord the Lord will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation.” Exodus 17:15-16

Meaning of Yahweh-Nissi: "The LORD my banner."

Praise & Prayer
Yahweh-Nissi, I praise You for being my Banner and the God of Omnipotence who fights my battles. I bow before Your presence to exalt, praise, and glorify Your name. Lord Jesus, I remember Your words to the disciples when You said, "Everyone who acknowledges Me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies Me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven." I'm deeply honored to be identified with You, and I will not be ashamed to publicly lift up the Banner of Your truth, grace, and love before my family, friends, and people in the marketplace who don't know You. Holy Spirit, please fill me with courage so that I can show others that Christ Jesus is my Banner. Help me do this through acts of kindness and by sharing my testimony about the wonderful things that the Lord has done for me. I pray in His mighty and glorious name, AMEN!

WINNING: Raise your hands to heaven to keep WINNING - Exodus 17:11

At Rephidim, the Amalekites came and fought against the Israelites. So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some men and go and fight the Amalekites tomorrow. I will stand on the top of the hill and watch you. I will be holding the staff God gave me.” Joshua obeyed Moses and went to fight the Amalekites the next day. At the same time Moses, Aaron, and Hur went to the top of the hill. Any time Moses raised his hands in the air, the men of Israel would start winning the fight. But when Moses put his hands down, the men of Israel began to lose the fight. Exodus 17:8-11 ERV

Praise & Prayer
I raise my hands to You, O LORD, as a sign of my surrender and dependence on Your Omnipotence. I raise my hands to proclaim that You are the Sovereign God who performs the impossible and incredible miracles for those who love You. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for defeating the devil at the cross who tries to steal my hope, kill my joy, and destroy my faith just as the Amalekites tried to do with Israel. I go forth this day with raised hands, holding the staff of Your infallible truth. I give You all praise, honor, and glory for making me a winner and overcomer. Holy Spirit, please guide someone across my path today who is defeated in the faith and feels like giving up. Use me to help raise their hands and strengthen their faith through prayer to our wonderful Savior, Christ Jesus. Hosanna [save now] in Jesus' mighty name.

ROCK: The LORD will give you water from the rock - Exodus 17:6

The whole Israelite community set out from the Desert of Sin [means: thorn bush], traveling from place to place as the Lord commanded. They camped at Rephidim [means: supports], but there was no water for the people to drink. Then Moses cried out to the Lord, “What am I to do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me.” The Lord answered Moses, “Go out in front of the people. Take with you some of the elders of Israel and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go. I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb [means: arid/dryness]. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel. And he called the place Massah [means: testing] and Meribah [means: quarreling] because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the Lord saying, “Is the Lord among us or not?” Exodus 17:1,4-7 NIV

Praise & Prayer
Merciful Father, as I journeyed through the thorny bushes of this world's desert, I am grateful for Your unwavering patience and attentive support during hard times. Please forgive me when doubts or frustrations affect my behavior during tests of faith that You permit me to face. Holy Spirit, please stop me from quarreling with the Lord and instead prompt my spirit to go and drink from the Rock, Jesus Christ, when my soul feels arid and dry. Guide me to someone today who is living in Horeb and feels an insatiable thirst in their heart. Use me to lead them to the Rock, who quenches the aridness in our souls and satisfies our every need. I pray for their deliverance in the mighty name of Jesus.

REST: The Lord gives you rest - Exodus 16:29

GLORY: You will see the glory of the LORD - Exodus 16:7

So Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites, “In the evening you will know that it was the Lord who brought you out of Egypt, and in the morning you will see the glory of the Lord, because he has heard your grumbling against Him. Who are we, that you should grumble against us?” Moses also said, “You will know that it was the Lord when He gives you meat to eat in the evening and all the bread you want in the morning, because He has heard your grumbling against Him. Who are we? You are not grumbling against us, but against the Lord.” Exodus 16:6-7 NIV

Prayer & Praise
Please reveal Your glory and let it shine throughout the world, Lord Jesus. I'm learning, Lord, to not be a grumbler or complainer like the children of Israel who quickly forgot about Your goodness and struggled to trust You in times of trouble. I praise You for reminding me through this scripture that You know my every need and are my Great Provider. Permit me this day to see Your glory for You alone are my Triumphant Savior, Wonderful Counselor, Loving Shepherd, and Glorious Lord. I pray in Your Almighty name.

BREAD: The Lord rains down bread from heaven to you - Exodus 16:4

The whole Israelite community set out from Elim and came to the Desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had come out of Egypt. 2 In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. 3 The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions. On the sixth day they are to prepare what they bring in, and that is to be twice as much as they gather on the other days.” Exodus 16:1-5 NIV

Jehovah-Jireh: "The Lord Will Provide."

Prayer & Praise
Please forgive me, Abba Father, for complaining and setting a bad example for others when things don't go as planned. I come before Your throne of grace to express gratitude for being Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord who provides all that I need. As I read this scripture, I am filled with hope by remembering that You sent Christ Jesus, the Bread of Heaven, to nourish me and make my life complete. Holy Spirit, please teach me to trust in the Lord Jesus during times of scarcity instead of complaining or doubting. I pray in His holy and mighty name. AMEN!
