For the second test, the Devil took him [Jesus] to the Holy City. He sat him on top of the Temple and said, “Since you are God’s Son, jump.” The Devil goaded him by quoting Psalm 91: “He has placed you in the care of angels. They will catch you so that you won’t so much as stub your toe on a stone.” Jesus countered with another citation from Deuteronomy: “Don’t you dare test the Lord your God.” Matthew 4:5-7 MSG

Prayer of the day

I will sing of Your mercies O LORD and I will make known Your faithfulness to all generations. I praise You Lord Jesus for teaching me the importance of relying upon God's unfailing word for extra strength when I am being tested by the devil. Holy Spirit, help to counter the lies of Satan by reciting God's living word when I face temptations or hardships that test my faith. Lead someone across my path today that that devil is testing and seeking to steal, kill, and destroy. Use my care to help them see how God loves them and wants to save us from the evil one. I pray for their salvation in Jesus' mighty name.
