23 One Sabbath day as Jesus was walking through some grainfields, His disciples began breaking off heads of grain to eat. 24 But the Pharisees said to Jesus, “Look, why are they breaking the law by harvesting grain on the Sabbath?” 27 Then Jesus said to them, "People were not made for the good of the Sabbath. The Sabbath was made for the good of people. 28 So the Son of Man is LORD over the Sabbath." Mark 2:23-24, 27-28
Meaning of Sabbath: "To rest; To stop or cease from work."
Living Truth: “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you REST. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I AM gentle and humble in heart, and you will find REST for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Prayer & Praise
My soul was restless like the sea, and my heart was troubled like a whirlwind until I took Your easy yoke and surrendered my life to You, the LORD of Sabbath (REST)! I praise You for giving my soul the Sabbath I craved, which drugs, alcohol, carnal lusts, pleasure, or money could never provide me. Holy Spirit, please use me to help spread the blessings of rest to people You bring across my path who are anxious from the protests and chaos we see on the streets by leading them to faith in Jesus, the LORD over the Sabbath. Lord Jesus, I ask You to please grant family and friends overwhelmed by life's heavy burdens the heavenly rest that only You can provide to souls who take Your yoke. I ask this prayer in Your mighty name.
