SINNERS: Jesus came to give sinners to a new life - Mark 2:17

While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees, saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does He eat with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus heard this, He said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, but [only] those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners [who recognize their sin and humbly seek forgiveness].” Mark 2:15-17

Infallible Truth
  • “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
  • “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:10
  • "Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new." 2 Corinthians 5:17
Prayer & Praise
I admit, Lord Jesus, that I struggle at times to understand just how deep and forgiving Your love is towards those who have sinned and missed the mark. I praise You for coming to save broken and unhealthy people who confess their need for You. Holy Spirit, please remind me that the past sins and wrongs I've committed no longer define me. I am a new person in Christ, my past is forgotten, and He has made everything new in my life. Halleluah!
