They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: “‘We played the pipe for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’ For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.” Matthew 11:16-19 NIV

Prayer of the day

Deliver me  Lord Jesus from being a fault-finding Christian who is judgmental of others like the generation that You lived in which was extremely critical and divisive. Holy Spirit, keep me from getting discouraged when people label me as a separatist or criticize me for being a disciple of Christ Jesus that befriends sinners. Infuse me with wisdom from above so I know what to say to someone today who is negative or antagonistic. Help me manifest the conduct of Jesus through my deeds. Give them a new heart and open their ears to hear the Good News of salvation in Jesus’ mighty name.
