Prayer for understanding

I'm here before Your presence Lord Jesus in need of understanding. I know nothing yet, as I ought to know. Holy Spirit, help me grow in wisdom and understanding by learning to pay close attention to the voice of Jesus. I ask You to help show my family, friends, and people in the marketplace that they are important to me by taking the time to listen carefully to what they have to say. Lead me to someone today who needs a listening ear and understanding heart. Give me the tongue of those who are instructed by the LORD so I know how to influence unbelievers and bless the hurting with God's living word. In Jesus' name.
