When Paul and his companions had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue. As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead. “This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah,” he said. Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and quite a few prominent women. Acts 17:1-4 NIV
POEM: "MESSIAH" by Mark Tinjum
Born of a virgin in a borrowed stall
With no earthly advantage at birth,
Only Shepherds greeted Christ
When the Holy One came to earth.
But angels marveled as God became flesh
Serenading the infant King,
As Jesus took His first full breath
The heaven of heavens began to sing.
For the heavenly host could not contain
The wonder and joy of the news,
The Child asleep in a cold stone stall
Was the Messiah and King of the Jews.
Your love, Messiah, endures forever. I bow in reverence before Your holy presence, Christ Jesus, to confess You as my Messiah (Anointed One; The Christ) before the Father, Holy Spirit, and all the hosts in heaven. I praise You for being the Anointed One who destroyed the powers of darkness at the cross because Your love endures forever. I praise You for being the Anointed One who came to deliver me from the bondage of sin and death because Your love endures forever. I praise You for being the Anointed One who came to give me eternal life because Your love endures forever. I praise You for being the Anointed One who is coming again to take me to heaven because Your love endures forever. Please lead me, Holy Spirit, to a seeker who does not know our Messiah. Use me to plant a seed or water a seed so they believe in Christ, and accept Him as their Lord and Savior. Hosanna, in His mighty name.
