“On the Sabbath, we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.” And she persuaded us.” Acts 16:13-15 NIV
Poem: “MATTERS OF THE HEART” by Deborah Ann Belka
There isn’t a heart to cold,
that God can’t melt . . .
there isn’t one to stony
that He can’t be felt.
There isn’t a heart to cynical,
that God can’t shake . . .
there isn’t one to hardened
that He can’t break.
There isn’t a heart to rigid,
that God can’t move . . .
there isn’t a heart to rough
that He can’t smooth.
There isn’t a heart to lost,
that God can’t find . . .
there isn’t a heart to far off
that He’d leave behind.
There isn’t a heart to broken,
that God can’t love . . .
there isn’t a heart in the world
that He would let go of!
Praise & Prayer for an open heart of flesh
I am thankful to the LORD my God, the ultimate specialist in heart transplants. I bow in reverence to praise You, Abba Father, for sending Your only begotten Son, Christ Jesus, to reveal Your heart of everlasting love and boundless mercy. Lord Jesus, I remember the day when You opened my heart, just as You did with Lydia's heart. You took my heart of stone, which was once apathetic towards God and people, and transplanted it with a heart of flesh that loves You and longs to obey You. Holy Spirit, please guide someone across my path today who has a closed and stony heart. Open their heart to receive the good news of salvation and allow them to feel the Lord's care through my actions. I pray in Jesus' mighty name.
March through books of the Bible and meditate on the verse and prayer of the day to help strengthen your faith and personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. Loving people with compassionate care and pointing them to Christ our Savior is how you will be a soul winner and bring glory of God.
