Unfaithful people! Don't you know that to be the world's friend means to be God's enemy? If you want to be the world's friend, you make yourself God's enemy. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? James 4:4-5
Eternal Truth: "Indeed, you are not to bow down in worship to any other god, because the LORD's name is Jealous He is a jealous God." Exodus 34:14; "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him. For all that is in the world—the lust and sensual craving of the flesh and the lust and longing of the eyes and the boastful pride of life [pretentious confidence in one’s resources or in the stability of earthly things]—these do not come from the Father, but are from the world. The world is passing away, and with it its lusts [the shameful pursuits and ungodly longings]; but the one who does the will of God and carries out His purposes lives forever."
Prayer & Praise
I am filled with awe to know, Abba Father, that You are jealous for me and fellow believers in Christ who love You. I praise You for giving me the Spirit that instills a yearning in my heart to love You with a jealous love, just as Christ, Your only begotten Son, loves You. I reverence You as the Living God, who is above all and greater than everything. Holy Spirit, please help me to be faithful and avoid committing adultery against God by becoming a friend of this world. Convict me and redirect my heart away from the sensual cravings of the flesh, the covetous lusts of the eyes, and the boastful pride of life. Never let me take for granted the jealous love of God by departing from my First Love, Christ Jesus, my Lord and Savior. I pray in His holy and mighty Name.
